So this is my artistic statement to 2020!! New Years Themed cards are not my favorite theme as it can be a bit limiting. While I was trying to come up with a good idea for this theme, I kept coming back to the fact that the best thing about ringing in 2021, is leaving 2020.
So I started with wanting to say “goodbye” to 2020. I pulled out the Well Written Dies and tried to see if I had the correct letters to create the new word. I pulled out the above words and started doing a little surgery. I cut out enough to also make a “hello” to match, but decided against it.
The “2020” uses the Playful Alphabet Dies and Poppy Moments Dies. The flower centers look like the CORONA virus and make good “0’s”. The background is a set of “disINKtive” style lips from the upcoming Hearts & Kisses Stamp Set found in the new Jan – Jun Mini Catalog available January 5th.
I stamped the lips repeatedly all over a Whisper White Cardstock panel in Real Red Ink and then covered it with a Vellum Cardstock panel to soften it. I created the statement “you can kiss it” from a greeting in the Hearts & Kiss set that says “sealed with a kiss”, but only inking the word “kiss”. Then I used the Make A Difference Stamp Set to spell out “you can..it!” I finished it off with the lips again, but this time stamping off 3 times before stamping it over the greeting. I die cut it out with a die from the Rectangle Stitched Dies.
As I was looking for ideas for my “goodbye to 2020” card, I kept coming back to this image from the Back on Your Feet Stamp Set of the tortoise on his back. He seems to really exemplify the struggle of 2020. He’s colored with Stampin’ Blends: Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, and Soft Sea Foam. I cut him out with a die from the Hippo & Friends Dies and the banners behind him are notched with the Triple Banner and Banners Pick a Punch Punches.
Not my prettiest card, but like I said, it’s a statement. I hope we all have a great 2021, but if we compare it to 2020, it will be AMAZING!!!!!
I hope you liked my project. Please make sure you leave a comment with the hashtag #stampitcontest to win the Simply Citrus Card Kit, and visit each of the bloggers on this hop!
