Happy Early Easter!!! I decided not to do a greeting card.  I created a punch art American Flag a few years ago, which I’ll link here, and I thought it would be fun to revisit that type of project.  I picked up a 12 x 12 canvas, googled “large easter egg”, and printed out a large childs coloring image (linked here).  I cut it out and traced it lightly onto the canvas that I erased as I glued the punch shapes onto the canvas.

I grab every punch that has small images and tried to replicate a decorated striped Easter Egg.  I used Flowers & More Host Designer Series Paper and Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper as they both have bright colors that were mostly solid.

Some images lie flat on the canvas, while others are curled, giving a great dimension to the canvas.  From top to bottom, the punches used are:

  • Whale Punch – small water spout
  • Petal Park Builder Punch – small flower
  • Country Bouquet Punch – large heart
  • Medium Daisy Punch
  • Dragonflies Punch – large dragonfly
  • Flower & Leaves Punch – small flower
  • Country Bouquet Punch – small heart
  • Dragonflies Punch – small dragonfly

The letters that make up “Easter” are cut with the Alphabet a la Mode Dies in Basic Black cardstock.  I cut about 6 of each letter and glued them together to add bulk.  I needed them to have a more visual weight to anchor the bottom corner of the canvas.  I finished the canvas by adding multiple Matte Black Dots randomly over the space.
