Hello, Star!

I love this simple card using the You’re So Sweet stamp set and Cherry on Top designer series paper and washi tape.  This was one of the cards we did at my monthly club/class this month.

One of the conversion that came up while making this card was how to size all the matting sheets.

The general rule of thumb is each smaller matting is reduced in size by 1/4″ on each side.

This is where I start.  I keep a list of the matting sizes above my paper cutter.  I then adjust by either removing one of the sizes, and/or making the adjustments by 1/8″ instead of 1/4″.  Here’s the list of the sizes by 1/4″ and a list of the sizes from larger to smaller of fractions by 1/8″ & 1/16″- for those a little less comfortable with math.   Print this out and keep over your paper cutter.  (Be careful w/ 1/16″.  If you cuts are not perfectly square, you will be very noticeable.)

So for this card I decided to not use the 4 x 5 1/4 matting and to trim the Whisper White with a small matte of Cucumber Crush.  So I made the Cucumber Crush  1/8″ larger than the Whisper White.   So the Whisper White is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, and the Cucumber Crush is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

Dimensionals are used to pop-up the Whisper White above the Cherry on Top DSP giving a shadow line and depth.
