Welcome to the Team Stamp It Halloween Blog Hop! 👻 I’m so glad you’re here. Halloween crafting is one of my favorite times of year; there’s just something magical about mixing spooky, sweet, and silly all together on one project. Today I’m sharing a double Z-fold card that features some not-so-scary trick-or-treaters: the Darling Dinos!

🦕 Card Concept: Dino Trick-or-Treat
When I spotted the Darling Dinos Stamp Set [164728], I knew they’d make the perfect little candy-loving characters for Halloween. After all, ROAR means BOO in dinosaur! 🦖 The double Z-fold is one of my go-to card bases because it gives you extra panels to build a scene, and this project really shows that off.
The dinos are dressed for fright night with their tiny pumpkin treat buckets, parading in front of a spooky house scene built from the Spooky Halloween Stamp Set [166192], coordinating Spooky Halloween Dies [166198], and the Spooky Sweet Specialty Designer Series Paper [166191].
🎨 Colors & Papers
This project is full of bold pops of Halloween fun. I layered Basic Black [121045], Petunia Pop [163801], Granny Apple Green [146990], Smoky Slate [131202], Pumpkin Pie [105117], and Basic White Thick [159229] cardstock to create a sturdy card base and add bright accents.
The patterned backgrounds are straight from the Spooky Sweet DSP, with windows, doors, and curtains that bring the neighborhood trick-or-treat vibe to life.
✂️ Dies, Details & Dimension
The sentiment “ROAR means BOO in dinosaur” was cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies [159183] and layered with the Spotlight On Nature Dies [163580] and Fright Night Dies [166106]. Foam Adhesive Sheets [152815] gave extra lift to the bold “BOO.”
Of course, the dinos themselves were stamped and cut with the Darling Dinos Bundle [164728 & 164734], then colored with Stampin’ Blends in these combos:
-
Gray Granite [154886]
-
Pumpkin Pie [154897]
-
Peach Pie [163827]
-
Petal Pink [154893]
-
Petunia Pop [163828]
-
Bubble Bath [161675]
-
Granny Apple Green [154885]
-
Lemon Lime Twist [161682]
-
Pool Party [154894]
-
Summer Splash [163826]
Each little dinosaur has its own candy bucket and unique coloring, making them the stars of this Halloween parade.
🪄 How to Create a Double Z-Fold Card Base
The double Z-fold looks impressive, but it’s really just two Z-shaped pieces of cardstock layered together. Here’s how to make it:
✂️ Supplies Needed
-
Cardstock for base: 4 1/4″ x 11″ (Basic Black [121045])
-
Cardstock for second Z-strip: 1″ x 11″ (also Basic Black [121045])
-
Scoring tool or Simply Scored
-
Bone folder
📝 Step 1: Score the Base
-
Place your 4 1/4″ x 11″ cardstock horizontally.
-
Score at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.
-
Fold it accordion-style (mountain fold at 2 3/4″, valley fold at 5 1/2″) it should look like a sideways “Z.”
📝 Step 2: Score the Second Strip
-
Take the 1″ x 11″ cardstock strip.
-
Score it at the same measurements: 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.
-
Fold it in the same accordion “Z” style.
📝 Step 3: Attach the Strip
-
Adhere the strip along the bottom of the card base, lining up the ends so that both Zs fold and stretch together.
-
This creates two layers of panels that zig-zag open for extra depth and room to decorate.
📝 Step 4: Decorate
-
Add Designer Series Paper panels (cut slightly smaller than each section of the card base).
-
Decorate both the front and inside strips with stamped images, die cuts, and embellishments.
✨ Pro Tip: Decorate the card with the folds closed first, then check how everything looks when it opens fully. That way, no dino gets stuck in a fold!
🪄 Why This Card Works
-
The double Z-fold design showcases the DSP and provides ample space for the dinosaur crew to “walk the neighborhood.”
-
Layered die cuts and foam adhesive create dimension, making the “BOO” sentiment stand out.
-
Stampin’ Blends give the dinos a vibrant, playful personality, perfect for Halloween fun without being too spooky.
