My Mother’s Day card is a bit untraditional.  I have a rainbow floral slimline card.  The floral paper is the gorgeous True Love Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up! Jan-Jun Mini Catalog that I colored with Watercolor Pencils.

To color all the different flowers I ended up using a rainbow of colors from the Watercolor Pencils so I decided to keep going with the rainbow theme and made a rainbow for the background of the die-cut “Love” from the Always Dies and the little piece of cardstock that divided the colored flowers from the black and white DSP panel.  The rainbow colors I chose were based on what colors were in the Watercolor Pencils:

  • Real Red
  • Calypso Coral
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Old Olive
  • Bermuda Bay
  • Balmy Blue
  • Gorgeous Grape
  • Rich Razzleberry
  • Blushing Bride

Before I die-cut the “Love” from Basic Black Cardstock I attached the Adhesive Foam to the back of the cardstock, so the “love” cut both the cardstock and the adhesive foam at the same time.

To color the flowers with the Watercolor Pencils, I didn’t actually ‘watercolor’ them.  I lightly shaded each flower, then went back and applied a much harder pressure to the “insides” of the flower leaving a darker shade of pencil. It added enough contrast to make the flowers ‘pop’.

The Watercolor Pencils come in 2 different assortments, each containing 10 Stampin’ Up! colors with Assort. 1 also has Black, White & Gray.
