Mothers Day Blog Hop

Here is my Mother’s Day card. The background is the main focus of the card. I used the hostess set “I Like You” (you only have a a little over a month to get you hands on the awesome set). I stamped it repeatedly on Sahara Sand in Versamark Ink, then Whisper White Embossing Powder.

To insure that I didn’t cover too much of the background, I used a piece of Velum to emboss one of my greetings. The “love’ comes from the “So You” stamp set. I love the size and font of the greetings in this set.  It was also heat embossed in Whisper White on the vellum.  I also wanted a little bling, so to not go over the top I added a thin strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

For the Happy Mother’s Day greeting I turned to an old staple in my stamp collection, Teeny Tiny Wishes. If your just starting out stamping, this set is a must!

When working with vellum you need to be creative with placement of your adhesive.  I’ve hidden my snail behind the Blushing Bride Scallop Edge detail, the Wisteria Wonder Mother’s Day banner, and then I used a single glue dot in the top left corner and covered them with pearls.

I colored each flower exactly the same with Stampin’ Write Makers.  I used a light and a dark color for the flowers and leaves.  I colored the dark color first, and then followed with the lighter color.  When done wipe with a dry cloth to remove the ink from the white embossing powder to make it pop!
