Wow…..how time flies. It’s amazing how life can just engulf you. Back in May I did my first craft fair and I devoted every free moment I had to creating product to sell and display. I think it went well and I’m looking forward to doing some more this fall.
Here’s a picture of my booth:
We were suppose to be outside, but we had had a lot of rain that week, and they were forecasting thunderstorms so at the last minute they move everyone inside to the school gym, and of course it was a beautiful day. I was next to a great group who were saving tigers, so that explains the animal print balloons. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and talked, and purchased!!! The Raffle winner was Ann Needles.
I got home from the craft fair and jumped right in to moving my craft-room. I have decided to really start to work my business, so I need to to move out of a closet space of my master bedroom to a space more conducive to hosting classes, clubs and parties. So my kids playroom (a spare bedroom on the first floor) was moved to the basement, and I’ve sent several very long day’s prepping, painting, moving boxes and organizing.
Here are a couple of photo’s after we had moved out most of the kids stuff before painting:
(I apologize for the quality of my photo’s. My good canon rebel camera is broken and I’m relying on my iphone, which can do a good job, but is not great.)
The photo on the left is the view looking in to the room, and the photo on the right is the looking to the right once in the room.
Here are the photos of how the room looks now:
This is the view as you enter the room. I removed the door to the room and have my 2 BENNO DVD shelves from IKEAwith all my stamps (well most of my stamps – I have a box in the closet with some retired ones I’m not ready to get rid of yet). I hope to get two more and attach them above these two. It’s all about maximizing space. I painted the room an apple green. It’s really close to pear pizzaz.
Here is the far corner. This is were all the stamping and creating happens. I have a my craft desk in the corner that is at waist height. I like to stand when I’m stamping. I’m surrounded by all of my tools, ribbon, punches, inks. It’s the perfect spot.
I have an old dining table in the middle of the room. I can have small classes here or a station for a larger clubs or workshops.
On the left side of the same wall is were my computer table is. Now I can create & blog all in the same space. Before my computer was in the office & my craft room was upstairs (about as far away from each other as possible in this house) and I was always running back and forth. I also have a small TV up on the wall for those late night stamping.
So continuing around the room counter clockwise, here’s the wall that’s on left as you walk in. I’m not done over here (but I don’t think I’ll ever be “done”) I have my paper cutter and my big shot sitting on top of an Ikea Expedit bookcase. I don’t think they make this particular one. It’s cubbies are not uniform. But it’s great for holding baskets with all my big shot dies, and magazines & stuff. I plan on making the frame into a message board of some sort. (That’s Scarlett coming in to check out what’s going on.)
Here’s the wall on the right when you walk in with a closet. All around the top of the room I have a curtain wire (DIGNITET) from IKEA that I’m using to display. I also have an old plate rack that I found at a consignment shop. I took off the vertical wood strips that were on the front (probably to keep the plates from falling out) and I’m using it for 3D and alterable display. I also have a great chair that I reupholstered years ago in the corner, so my hubby has a comfy spot to spend time with me while I’m crafting. It easily moves out of the room when I’m having a larger class so I can fit more people around the table.
So that some of what I’ve been up to this summer. I have a chance to create in this space. I’ll leave you with a card:
