A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop
Welcome to another A Paper Pumpkin Thing, APPT, Blog Hop. Each month, our creative crew reimagines the kit, proving you can absolutely think outside the box, literally. I am hopping with the talented PPX Crew and fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators to bring you fresh ideas and useful tips.
Each project in this hop features the December kit with coordinating Stampin’ Up! products. If you are new here, hi, I am Linda Cullen from Massachusetts, and you have landed on my blog, Crafty Stampin’. About the December Kit – Watercolor in Bloom
Keep the botanical beauty coming with the Watercolor in Bloom Paper Pumpkin Kit. The layered designs and watercolor vibes make it easy to create cards that feel special, whether you’re saying thank you, sending love, or reaching out to a friend who could use a little happy mail.
🎄 Thank you Cards
I created two greeting card alternatives from this month’s kit, Watercolor in Bloom. Both are thank you cards, because let’s be real, you can never have too many thank you cards ready to grab.
Alternative Card 1, Diagonal Cut Card Front

For my first card, I used one of the kit card bases as the star of the show. I treated it like Designer Series Paper for the card front, then added a small strip from the same card base along the bottom, rotated 90 degrees so you can see all those gorgeous color shifts.

The Secret Sea Cardstock base is a Diagonal Cut Card Front. Here’s how to get that angled peek:
-
Start with a standard card base.
-
Place the card front on your trimmer.
-
Line up the bottom left corner at the 1-inch mark, and the bottom right corner at the 2-inch mark.
-
Cut along that line to create the angled bottom edge.

From the kit, I used the die-cut with laser-cut leaves along the top and bottom. I cut that die cut in half so I could tuck it neatly along the diagonal edge.
For the focal point, I used one of the included elements and die-cut it with the second-largest circle from the Spotlight on Nature Dies. It frames the image perfectly without swallowing it up.

I stamped the greeting, Thank You, in Shaded Spruce Ink on one of the included die cuts, then layered it over the circle. To finish the front, I added extra die-cut leaves and flowers from the Paper Pumpkin add-on dies, Abundant Joy.

Inside the card, I added a Basic White panel stamped with a greeting in Shaded Spruce Ink. I also repeated a small strip of the kit card base along the bottom to tie everything together.
Final touch, a sprinkle of the bronze sequins from the kit, because a plain card is fine, but sparkle is better. 😉

Alternative Card 2, Simple Layers With Envelope Details
My second card is a bit simpler, but still has that layered, finished look.
I started with a Thick Basic White card base. I trimmed down one of the kit card bases and attached it to the front as my main layer.

Then I grabbed two envelopes from the kit, trimmed them down, and adhered them to a piece of Basic White cardstock. That whole panel got mounted onto a Shaded Spruce Cardstock layer for a little contrast and structure.
For the sentiment, I stamped Thank You on Thick Basic White Cardstock in Shaded Spruce Ink. I added slim strips from another kit card base, the watercolor ombre one that fades from Shaded Spruce to Secret Sea, to the top and bottom of the sentiment piece for a simple little “frame” effect.
I hope you enjoyed these alternatives and that they sparked an idea for using your kit pieces in a fresh way.
