You Can Create It – August Challenge | Featuring the Everyday You & Me Stamp Set

I’m thrilled to share my project for this month’s You Can Create It (YCCI) international design challenge! This fun, global Stampin’ Up!® collaboration, founded by the talented German demonstrators Anja Luft and Heike Fallwickl, encourages crafters everywhere to stretch their creativity with just a limited set of supplies. It’s always amazing to see how many unique projects can come from the same materials!

✂️ What is “You Can Create It”?

Every quarter, participants receive a kit that includes four monthly envelopes plus one bonus “extras” envelope. Each month we open up that envelope and challenge ourselves to design something only with the contents provided, plus the extras pack (and any finishing touches we want to add).

On the 2nd of each month, our international team of demonstrators shares our projects to spark inspiration. And here’s the best part: you can join in too! 🥳

📨 August Envelope Contents + Extras Pack

Here’s what we had to play with this month:

💌 My Project: You Are Remarkable

For my card, I paired the August kit with the You Are Remarkable Stamp Set—and I love how it turned out!

Card Base & Layers

• Base: 11″ x 4-1/4″ Thick Basic White, scored at 5-1/2″.

• I trimmed 1-1/2″ off the bottom front.

• Inside panel: A 2″ x 4-1/4″ gingham DSP strip (Perennial Lavender) peeks out at the bottom.

• Front panel: A 4″ x 4-1/2″ floral DSP piece (Perennial Lavender).

• Accent strip: Gorgeous Grape Two-Tone Cardstock with a subtle 1/16″ reveal along the front bottom edge.

• Texture: Another strip of Gorgeous Grape Two-Tone Cardstock embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder, then lightly sanded with a nail file to reveal the white core, such a cool distressed look!

Stamping & Coloring

• The flower is stamped on the dark side of the Crumb Cake Two-Tone Cardstock with White Craft Ink.

• I colored it using Stampin’ Blends:

  • Petals: Highland Heather Light & Fresh Freesia Light

  • Leaves: Lost Lagoon Light

  • Center: Crumb Cake Dark

  • Highlight/shadow: Crumb Cake Light

• The flower is die cut with the largest banner die from the Nested Essentials Dies.

• The sentiment (also from You Are Remarkable Stamp Set) is stamped in Gorgeous Grape Ink on the light side of the Crumb Cake Two-Tone Cardstock, then die-cut with the 4th largest rectangle from the Textured Notes Dies.

Finishing touch: 3 Purple Fine Shimmer Gems ✨.
