One of my favorite things about late summer and fall are sunflowers!!  They are just so ‘happy’!  They make me smile…..but they didn’t always make my son smile.  Here’s my, now almost 11-year-old, son just a few days after coming home from the hospital staring at a sunflower.  I think his several day’s old brain thought it was a person.  He stared at it for the longest time.

For my card, I featured the most beautiful designer series paper from the new Stampin Up Holiday Catalog, Painted Autumn with the Wood Textures DSP and the Basket of Wishes stamp set.  I stamped the flowers and basket in Early Espresso Ink on Vellum Cardstock and heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  I then colored the images with my Stampin Write Markers on the backside of the vellum.  Because the ink does not dry right away I’m able to blend the colors to create depth.

Markers used:

  • Daisy Petals – Crushed Curry & Cajun Craze
  • Daisy Center – Early Espresso & Soft Suede
  • Daisy Leaves – Lemon Lime Twist & Garden Green
  • Ivy leaves – Garden Green
  • Berries – Cajun Craze
  • Basket – Crushed Curry, Soft Suede & Early Espresso

I then cut a small square of Very Vanilla cardstock and Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheets, adhered them as directed then cut them with a circle from the Layered Circle Framelits and attached it to the back of the Vellum.  I then added a few Cajun Craze Enamel Shapes.
