Cards:
I created 4 Valentine’s Day cards that were all variations of a theme…..wood, hearts, and love. All the cards could be used for events other than Valentine’s Day: Wedding, Engagement, Anniversary. I used the Stampin’ Up Be Mine Framelit Dies, Well Written Framelit Dies and Wood Texture Designer Series Paper to achieve my goal.
Card 1:
This is where it all started. I went looking for some inspiration for Valentine’s Day cards and came across the below decorative tile. I liked its simplicity so I used the following elements from it as inspiration: square, multiple shades of red hearts, gold ‘love’, and a wood background to develop this card.
I love how adding dimensionals to each heart give the card a great level of impact without adding anything else.
Card 2:
My second card came about while I was digging through my pile of Wood Textures DSP. I’ve purchased MANY packs and have quite a few of this particular piece left. I thought I would try to make a simple, masculine valentines day card. I really had to resist putting some bling on this card. I still have the itch to do it, but I do love it as is. To keep it from being too plain I embossed the background panel with the Subtles Dynamic Embossing Folder to add a bit of texture.
Because of the cards simplicity, I wanted the “love” to really stand out. I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue and attached 6 die cuts together in Real Red. This really gives the word a bit more weight on the card, kinda like some of the wood elements. I think this is my favorite of the 4 cards.
Card 3:
Card 3 is a variation on card 2 but a bit more feminine. I wanted to use one of my favorite wood designs in the Wood Textures DSP pack that reminds me of the inside of a barn, and what might you find there??? Someone carving their initials into the side of the wall. I created my husband & my initials using the Make A Difference stamp set in Early Espresso. I used one of the panels from the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper and attached it to a Very Vanilla panel with Multipurpose Glue.
The heart is a single die that cuts both the smooth heart AND the scalloped/stitched outline. I took the feminine/girly part up a notch by using the Rose Glimmer Paper for the outline. I attached the two with a little thin washi tape on the back.
The “love” comes from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlit Dies – I thought I’d shake it up a bit. This time it is cut from the Sale-a-bration Lovely Lipstick Foil with 5 Very Vanilla Thick cardstock die cuts built up behind it like the real red love from card 2.
Card 4:
This card brings all the leftover pieces from the first 3 cards together into a really cool card. Card 1 started out as a traditional A2 card size, but later decided on the square so I had the crumb cake card base, wood textures panels cut and ready to go. Card 3 used the scalloped edge Rose Glimmer Paper leaving the smooth heart so that became the center image of the card.
I had an extra scallop Cherry Cobbler small heart left over from card 1 so I cut off the scallops at the stitched line and attached it to a Copper Foil Scalloped heart from the Be Mine Framelits Dies. I finished with a Copper Foil “love” from the Well Written Framelits Dies.
I hope you liked my project. Please make sure you leave a comment with the hashtag #stampitcontest to win the Notes of Kindness Card Kit, and visit each of the bloggers on this hop!
