Father’s Day Blog Hop

For my Father’s Day card I chose to use the elk from The Wilderness Awaits stamp set.  This would make a great birthday card for a dad, husband or any man in your life too with just a switch of the greeting.

I tried a new way to watercolor.  I put 70% rubbing alcohol into my aqua painter and used that with my ink pads to apply the color onto the Shimmery White card stock.  I like it.  The alcohol dries faster, so I’m not over saturating the card stock with liquid.  I was able to control my coloring better.  Give it a try.  I wrote “rubbing alcohol” in permanent  marker on my aqua painter so I know which one had the alcohol and which ones have water.

I love this elk, he makes a perfect masculine card.  The greeting “world’s best dad” comes from the soon to be retired Going Global stamp set from the Occasions Catalog.

To get the color on the rock that he is standing on I layered multiple colors.  Started with Delightful Dijon, added Cajun Craze, then finally toned it down with Soft Suede.

I added a strip of Delightful Dijon –  used the scallop boarder edge from the Cutie Pie Thinlets, then embossed it with the Boho Chic Impression folder.

A little sponging through circle in a scrap piece of printer paper in Pool Party adds a nice effect in the background.  I cut the circle with the soon retiring Circles Collection Framelits.
