A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop Paper Pumpkin Card Alternatives

Welcome to another A Paper Pumpkin Thing, APPT, Blog Hop. Every month, our crafty crew takes the latest Paper Pumpkin Kit and gives it a little creative shake-up, because around here, the kit instructions are helpful, but they are not the boss of us. 😉

I am hopping with the talented PPX Crew and fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators to share fresh ideas, clever ways to stretch your kit supplies, and a few “why didn’t I think of that?” projects.

This month, I created two alternatives using the June 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit, Bikes & Blooms. This kit is full of sweet bicycle images, soft florals, pretty greenery, printed card bases, envelopes, linen thread, butterflies, and those handy little adhesive bits we all pretend we never hoard.

My projects include a coordinating greeting card and a 3D Bicycle Basket Treat Box. The card keeps that cheerful garden-bike feel, while the treat box turns the kit pieces into a sweet little giftable project. Because sometimes a card is lovely, but a card with chocolate? That is crafting with priorities. 🚲🌿

If you are new here, hi, I am Linda Cullen from Massachusetts, and you are visiting Crafty Stampin’. Scroll to the bottom of this post for the full list of blog hop stops so you can see all the creative alternatives made with this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit.

About the Bikes & Blooms Kit

The June 2026 Bikes & Blooms Paper Pumpkin Kit includes supplies for creating bright, cheerful bicycle-themed cards. The kit has a soft, pretty color palette with yellow, pink, green, and crisp white, plus bicycle and basket images that are perfect for spring and summer cards.

The kit includes:

  • 9 printed card bases, 3 each of 3 designs
  • 9 printed envelopes
  • Precut paper pieces
  • Small and large silver butterflies
  • Linen thread
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Mini Glue Dots
  • Adhesive

It has a fresh garden vibe, a little bit of bicycle charm, and just enough pretty detail to make you feel fancy without needing a second cup of coffee. Although, let’s be honest, we are having the coffee anyway.

My Bikes & Blooms Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

For my first project, I created a layered greeting card using the bicycle image as the main focal point. I kept the look clean and cheerful, then added dimension with the basket, greenery, sentiment strip, and embellishments.

The bicycle image is such a strong focal point that it really does not need much fussing. I layered it with coordinating colors, added the “Thank you” sentiment, and let the bike do its cute little bike thing.

For my second project, I created a coordinating Bicycle Basket Treat Box. This is a 3D project designed to coordinate with the card, sized to showcase the 4″ x 5-1/4″ landscape bicycle panel.

The treat box uses two pieces of cardstock and has a handle-style top with linen thread tied through it. I decorated the front with the bicycle panel, greenery, a butterfly, and the “Best wishes” sentiment. It is perfect for a small gift, candy, tea bags, seed packets, or any little treat you want to make look like you planned ahead. We will not discuss whether we actually planned ahead.

Bicycle Basket Treat Box Details

The box was designed to fit on two sheets of 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock.

Piece A creates the front, sides, and glue tabs. Piece B creates the back panel. The 1″ sides give the box just enough depth for a small treat while still keeping the whole project friendly for standard cardstock.

To cut the handle, I used the long banner die from the Words of Beauty Dies.  For piece A, which is wider than my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, I positioned the die, secured it with post-it notes, and folded the sides over the top before running it through the machine.

Why Make Paper Pumpkin Alternatives?

Paper Pumpkin kits are wonderful as designed, but alternatives let you really stretch the supplies. One kit can become cards, treat boxes, gift holders, tags, mini albums, and all sorts of “well, look at me being clever” projects.

This month’s Bikes & Blooms kit is especially fun because the bicycle images are large enough to carry a project on their own. That makes them perfect for a simple card front, but also great for a 3D project like this treat box.

Have You Tried Alternatives Yet?

Have you tried creating alternatives with your Paper Pumpkin Kit? I would love to hear what you made. Did you cut the card bases apart? Use the envelopes? Turn something into a fun fold? Or are you still staring at the pieces like they owe you an explanation?

Leave a comment and tell me what you created. Sharing ideas is half the fun, and the other half is pretending we are going to clean our craft desks afterward.
