🍓 Sweeter With You – July 2025 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives
A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop
Welcome to another inspiring A Paper Pumpkin Thing (APPT) blog hop! Each month, our team of creatives reimagines the contents of the Paper Pumpkin kit to show just how versatile and fun it can be to think outside the box—literally. I’m so excited to be hopping with the talented PPX Crew and fellow Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators to bring you fresh ideas and creative inspiration.
Each project in this hop is made using the July kit along with coordinating Stampin’ Up! products. If you’re just starting here, I’m Linda Cullen from Massachusetts, and you’re visiting my blog, Crafty Stampin’. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post to find the full list of participating blogs so you can check out all the fantastic alternative ideas!
The July 2025 kit, “Sweeter With You,” is a juicy delight, featuring cheerful strawberry imagery, summery prints, and playful elements that are perfect for crafting cards that feel like a picnic on paper. I created two alternative greeting cards, and I’m excited to walk you through all the juicy details!
🍓 Card 1: Layered Berry Delight
This card may look simple at first glance, but it’s a hidden layer cake of texture and technique!
Here’s how it stacks up, from the base up:
-
I started with a Thick Basic White card base for a sturdy foundation.
-
Next, I added a panel of Basic White cardstock, embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder—because plaid and strawberries? Yes, please.
-
Then comes a surprise twist: a section of the envelope flap included in the kit, trimmed and layered for pattern and visual interest.
-
On top of that, a piece of Pool Party cardstock creates a calming contrast to all the red berries.
-
The final focal point is the scalloped die-cut label from the kit, trimmed shorter to better fit the card proportions. To hide where I cut the label, I wrapped the label once with Shaded Spruce & Soft Sea Foam Ribbon, trimmed neatly to keep things polished.
-
I stamped the sentiment from the kit in Poppy Parade Ink, then added two strawberry die cuts for a pop of color and dimension.
-
To finish, I added three Darling Duck Low Profile Sparkle Dots—because every berry card needs a little sparkle.
This card is all about layering unexpected materials while keeping the balance of color, pattern, and texture.
🍓 Card 2: Berry Bold Background
For card two, I decided to go bold and showcase the gorgeous strawberry print card base, front and center.
Here’s the layout breakdown:
-
I covered a Thick Basic White card base entirely with one of the kit’s strawberry card bases—why waste that fabulous pattern?
-
Then I layered a large Basic White panel (the canvas for my sentiment) backed with a Poppy Parade cardstock layer that gives a slim 1/8” border on the top and bottom—just enough to make it pop.
-
The sentiment from the kit is stamped in Poppy Parade Ink to coordinate perfectly.
-
To finish the card, I attached four different strawberry die cuts from the kit using Stampin’ Dimensionals for added depth and movement.
-
Three Mossy Meadow Low Profile Sparkle Dots add the final touch of subtle shine.
This design highlights how a kit card base can become a bold, polished background—and it’s a great way to use those larger pre-printed elements without needing to reinvent them.
💡 Quick Crafting Tips:
-
Don’t toss the envelopes! That flap lining? It’s premium patterned paper in disguise.
-
Mix textures: A little embossing (hello, Forever Plaid) adds high-end detail without overwhelming the card.
-
Stamp in color: Poppy Parade Ink is your best friend for this kit—vibrant, cheerful, and matches the strawberries beautifully.
-
Ribbon as problem-solver: Use it to hide a trimmed edge or accentuate a focal point—it’s a trick worth remembering.
