When I was creating items for my craft fair, I created these trivets. To get a bold image I used stencils. With a stamp you can only get as much ink on the tile as will transfer off the stamp, but with a stencil you can layer and add more ink creating depth
Did you know Stampin' Up! makes stencils? This is the Kind Thoughts Brocade (116572). You can find them on page 234 of the 2011 - 2012 Stampin' Up! catalog.
These are really simple to make, and were a big hit. Here's what you need:
6"x6" tumbled marble tiles (from a big box home improvement store)
Felt pads, these are the 1" self stick
Stencil (Kind Thoughts Brocade - 116572)
StazOn - Jet Black
Sponge Daubers
Temporary Adhesive
Wash & Dry your tiles. They will come out of the packaging with quite a lot of dust and grit on them.
Use the temporary adhesive to attach the stencil to your tile. Ink up sponge dauber with the StazOn ink and pounce the ink up and down onto the tile through the stencil. Don't rub. You could move the stencil and ruin your image.
When you feel you have enough color, remove your stencil and allow to dry. Attach felt pads. Done!!
Easy peesy, lemon squeezy as my son would say!
Have a great weekend.
